Summer Essentials: Looks We LOVE!

There’s no better time than SUMMER to freshen up your look. With our favorite season officially starting in just a few days, we thought it was the perfect time to share some summer looks we love. After searching our closets, visiting our favorite stores, and perusing Pinterest (again and again again!), we are definitely feeling the Summer love. Whether it’s work time, play time, or pool time, we’re all about adding color, standing out, and simplifying our style. Check out some of our favorite looks below.

WORK MODE

In our opinion there are only four things you NEED: button downs, knee length skirts, blazers, and simple shirts to tuck in. You probably already have most of these items in your closet …now it’s just about pairing them differently to get a summery look you’ll love.

Layering with a blazer or a button down shirt is a must-have when going to the office or to an off-site meeting – after all, we’ve all been victims of freezing buildings and quick changes in air conditioning temps! You can never have too many simple shirts either. We LOVE the crew neck look paired with a necklace and a knee length skirt.  You can find great deals on these at The Gap.

Planning a night out with the gals or a date night with your hubby? We hope so!  There is no better time to dress it up. You can never go wrong with a solid colored dress- pick a style that you can dress up or down, depending on the occasion. This time of year we’re loving white, black, navy blue, and emerald green colors. With a simple solid-colored dress, there’s room to jazz up your outfit elsewhere – with fun shoes, a bold bag, bright makeup, colorful jewelry, or even a large belt. Bottom line: a simple cocktail dress is a must-have.

POOL & BEACHTIME

Our motto for pool & beachwear is this: go with less, not more! Cover-up dresses are a great way to go. We recommend one that covers your shoulders for the hotter days that await. When heading to the pool or beach, we love fun patterns- FORGET ABOUT MATCHING!

Onto the bathing suit. While bathing suit shopping is not our favorite task in the world, it’s not our worst either (that would be getting a root canal).  Here are some of our style preferences:

1. For one-piece suits, we love simple patterns like this J.Crew suit below.  One-pieces that have a little bit of frill are always fun and flattering.

AND

2. For bikinis, we are fans of anything with straps and bottoms with good coverage. The more support you have and the more comfortable you are, the more fun you’ll have (especially if you are chasing little ones around).

What else to bring? Sunscreen, flip flops, water, shades, and a good book. Doesn’t get much better.

TRAVEL TIME:

Summer is often spent on the road- with family vacations, road trips, and local excursions, our calendars are usually packed. When traveling, it’s essential to simplify outfits. Jeans, a white T, and flip flops is our go-to ensemble. It’s comfortable, casual, and a great way to show off that summer glow. For extra sparkle, add a simple gold necklace. Our favorite casual flip flops? Havianas and Rainbows.

INSTANT OUTFIT BOOSTERS

As busy moms we are ALWAYS on the move…carpools, vacations, work. You name it, we always seem to be rushing to get there. Here are some quick outfit boosters we use when on the go:

Neon flats- These are a Summer season must-have! They pair well with almost everything and make a nice, bold statement.

Thin scarf- A quick and easy way to spruce up your ‘white t-shirt & jeans’ look.

Bangles- Mix ‘em, match ‘em, let them dangle and tangle!

We could go on for hours writing about what to wear this Summer but we’ll wrap it up here…we know you’re busy!  Just remember to add color, stand out, simplify, and FEEL GOOD!
